AFTER THE 6TH GRADE OF PRIMARY SCHOOL AND OLDER

For Who?

Boys and girls who have completed the 6th grade of primary school and older. The camp is recommended for the young people interested in sailing and water sports. Participants must be prepared to make significant efforts and face fast pace of activities. They should be able to swim and like everything what is connected to water.

Dates:

Programme:

We are proud to invite you to an intensive sailing training programme. This camp is particularly recommended to the young people who have mastered the basics of the sport and are interested in regatta training. We have planned as many as three or four 1.5 hours-long activities on boats. During the training the participants will have the possibility to put their skills into practice in pairs on Topaz-Taz type boats. Cooperation in small teams composed of 2 people only allows for, and at the same time requires, higher involvement on the part of each member of the team. Young people will also have a chance to steer a boat on their own. This is why, though the term is shorter, each of the participants will gain a significant amount of knowledge and practical skills.

THE PROGRAMME INCLUDES

Thematic activities (3-4 x 1.5 h/day) – intensive sailing training on “Omega” and “Topaz-Taz” type sailing boats. It will also include perfecting one’s ability to gybe, go about, hand reef and steer. Major part of the course covers regatta elements – the start strategy, yacht trim, the rules of luffing in various wind conditions, going round regatta marking, regatta organization rules.

Supplementary activities (1 x 1.5 h/day) - young people will choose individually from the following disciplines: canoes (tourist, sit-on-top and sport), canoe, rowing boats, a climbing wall, a rope park, archery, bikes, sport games.

General camp activities – it’s a common play and meeting time for kids from all camps in a specific age group. These include: team games tournament (Summer Serwy Games), a bonfire, a disco, a field game at night, a fest, activities of choice and others.

Badge-awarding activities - organised for interested participants, who have proven their persistence, have made progress and passed the final test, receive brown, silver or gold badges confirming their sailing skills.

The badge programme serves as an additional motivator for camp participants to actively and enthusiastically develop the scope of their knowledge and skills.

We decided to limit mobile phone use by kids and youths on the area of Camp Serwy. The participants will be allowed to use the mobile phones each Wednesday and Saturday during the dinner break. Outside that period the phones will be deposited in the Camp’s safe.

The price includes:

Accommodation: Rooms sleeping 4-5 kids with en suite bathrooms, equipped with single or bunk beds or rooms sleeping 3-4 kids with basins (with shared bathrooms with showers) equipped with single or bunk beds.

Board: 3 meals per day in the form of a buffet, afternoon snack, “open snack cabinet”, unlimited water or tea.

• Full programme including all thematic, supplementary and badge-awarding activities as well as general camp events
